Laura is a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been practicing in various settings for over 20 years, including schools (k-12), police departments, and other inpatient/outpatient settings. She has also been a professor in the behavior sciences and graduate level courses in social work for over 10 years (including at TMB’s Co-Founders’ alma mater, University of Chicago).
Laura has vast experience working with children, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. Her speciality areas include body dysmorphia, eating disorders, social challenges, ADHD, anxiety, and other areas that impair the well-being of a developing person. Laura also provides couples, family, and parental therapy. These sessions can address a variety of concerns, including recurring conflicts, communication challenges, feelings of disconnection, and family dynamics that affect parenting.
Laura is passionate about creating an empowering clinical relationship that supports clients in building a strong sense of self and increased awareness of their emotional regulation and innate ability to work through issues. Laura utilizes holistic methods such as cognitive behavior therapy, play therapy, family systems approach, narrative therapy and social thinking models to support her clients.
Laura earned her masters degrees in Social Work and Administration / Education from Loyola University, Chicago, and her bachelors degree in economics at the University of Guelph in Toronto, Canada. Originally from Canada, Laura enjoys living in the Chicagoland area with her three kids. She welcomes all clients to her practice.
